Amanda, there are tons of cabins here on Kentucky Lake.
I dont know how cheap they are,but we are located about 15-20miles from the Southside of Paducah.
Hope I could help ya,feel free to email me if you have any more questions.

By amanda on Monday, May 3, 2004 - 10:34 pm:

hey does any body now where a cheap cabin renatl near metropils and paducah is for 4 adults and 1 child stay 3 night

By jmc on Monday, April 5, 2004 - 12:49 am:

This is to Jerry Fannin...

You do not have to be a member of the Triangle Club to use their facilities. You can rent a cabin, boat slip or RV spot very reasonably. You simply need to be sponsored by a member...which is not a problem. Just e-mail me,
jcarpenter@vci.net and I will take care of you.

This isnt about fishing but I know alot of you guys here around Kentucky Lake can help me out...I am needing to find out some information on how to become a Forest Ranger/Conservationist/Enviromentalist/and a plant/mushroom studier-observer.I am very interested in all these things and I was wondering if maybe you guys could help me out a little, maybe give me some names and numbers or just tell me what to study in college.
Also, does anyone know anything about mycology(the study of mushrooms)?
Thanks for any replies,
Thanks again,
Zac Fennel

P.S.-Mike Tracy,in June the lake is kind of busy, its not as busy on the weekdays as it is on the weekends though, thats for sure!
Also,if I were you Id just bring the essentials,If I were you guys you could maybe also go camping,LBL has some GREAT camping sites!

My family is coming to Kentucky Lake for a vacation June 7-11. We are renting a houseboat for the week. This is our first time doing this. Can anyone offer tips/suggestions/advice about what to bring etc.? How crowded is the lake in June?

By grhodes on Tuesday, March 16, 2004 - 10:43 pm:

This is in reply to John about Irvin Cobb.

We have stayed there for a week at a time the last 3 years. The resort is a very nice place to stay. The Covered boat Docks(which are included with the cabins) are a bit narrow for the new wide bass boats, but very usable(just take a couple of bumpers to keep your boat off the one next to you). The Cabins are clean and comfortable. They are not fancy, but they all have all the modern ammenities. Cliff the owner is a great guy to talk to and will do everything in his power to make your stay enjoyable. The lodging rates are fair. I have really enjoyed the atmosphere there. I have also stayed at Paradise Resort, they have very nice cabins and rooms(a bit more expensive then Irvin Cobb) but it was a bit far to run to fish in Blood River if the wind is up. The wind can really effect the main river if it blows very hard. Bottom line is Irvin Cobb is my choice for a great place to stay and I hope to stay there for many years to come. Make sure you book early at (270)436-5811

By Sandy Davis on Monday, March 1, 2004 - 11:13 am:

Responding to inquiry about Kentucky Lake and water skiing.
Water skiing is wonderful on Kentucky Lake. Lots of room. Does get crowded especially on holiday weekends.

By Todd Hollowell on Wednesday, February 25, 2004 - 08:02 pm:

Scott, Dave Stewart is the best guide on the lake, but only guides for bass fishing. Give him a call; the link to his website will be on the fishing reports page of this site under Bass Buster Guide Service. Tell him I sent you :)

By scott on Tuesday, February 24, 2004 - 09:37 pm:

I have a fishing trip planned around march 21st with my dad and grandpa. I've looked at the site and compared prices on guides. Anybody have any suggestions to who are which ones are the most accomodating for the average joe fisherman? Also, I know it's kinda of last minute, but any suggestions on where to stay that offer a boat launch either on the property or very close by? Thanks in advance.

TO GARY:
Hey man,how ya doing?
There are several GREAT camping sites in LBL(http://www.kentuckylake.com/lbl/lbl-map.htm)Just copy and paste that to your address box and it will bring up a site about LBL...LBL is a great place Gary,I have grown up here in Western Kentucky,Calvert City to be exact and I love this place,it isnt a big city so the crime rate isnt really all that great but there are still some criminals.Anyways, back to the nature at hand,If I were you I would try camping at Hilmans Ferry in LBL,its a great campground, its got running water/electricity and showers...Now thats not really camping to me its just like living at home, anyways if your wanting to do some heavy duty camping you should try Nickelbranch,I am pretty sure that is the name of the campground...Both of these campgrounds have a dock to load and unload your boat, and they are both raelly good camping sites...Every since the Forestry Dept. has taken over LBL I hate it,they suck, they have shut down alot of cool places, anyways I hope you and your family have fun and be safe, the waters can get waky at times!
By the way...Where are you from?
Hope I could help ya out buddy!
have a good time~

P.S.-Heres another great LBL site, its the actual LBL official site!

To: V. Ogden
I recommend The Moors, this place in close to some of the more popular bays on the Kentucky Lake side. They have done some remodeling over the past couple of years and it's a really nice & friendly place to stay with or without kids. They have cabins and a lodge. Most of the cabins are new, the lodge is a little older but still very nice. If I was you I would book now, they stay pretty full that time of year... You can find there link on the web site. If you have any questions just email me.

Interested in renting a houseboat next summer with a friend of mine and our 2 teenage daughters. Can anyone tell me their experience with a houseboat vacation and teenage girls - ages 15 and 16. Do they get bored? What else is there to keep them occupied besides sunning and swimming? I'm sure they will enjoy wave-runners and shopping. Thoughts and suggestions will be welcome.

My family and I plan to vacation on Kentucky Lake or Lake Barkley in late August. We are also bringing our dog and have found a few places that allow dogs in the cabins/cottages. Does anyone have any comments on "America's Paradise Resort", "Whispering Oaks", "Holiday Hills" or Cozy Cove Resort". We are also bringing our 19' boat for some fishing and waterskiing, etc. Is there a better part of the Lake to be on? Also, how does Lake Barkley compare to Kentucky Lake (other than it's size?) Thanks, Diane

We would like to tent camp and we are looking for a site on the lake that is a semi private wooded area. We do not want "subdivision camping". We will need a boat launch and fishing boat rental. Would like some info on campgrounds with boat ramps on KY lake. I have only been there once and not real familiar with all the options. I'll be fishing out of 16' Grumman Deep V w/9.9 OB. Probably won't want to make very long runs in big open water with such a small motor so help me out somebody...please! I'm coming from Indiana so get me to the closest/best location...Thanks in advance.

By RW on Monday, January 24, 2000 - 10:16 pm:

FYI. My wife and I made a trip to Kentucky Lake a few years ago and stayed at Shawnee Bay Resort in October. Very enjoyable resort. Maybe 6-10 cabins with a private boat ramp only for guests situated on a very large bay with plenty of very good fishing. Caught many white bass and catfish with a couple of bonus 3 to 4 lb. largemouths while we were there for 4 days. Very laid back and peaceful. Worth checking out if you need a resort to stay at. Off the beaten path so plan ahead...you won't want to make more than one run into town while you're there.

I have a trip planned for Oct.22-25 and will be staying in the Benton area. If my calculations are right the water temps should be 63-65. What will the crappie be doing at this time ? I was down there this spring and a cold front came thru the week before I got there and chased everything that moved to the creek channels. I was on the Blood River then, this time on the main lake. What is the magic temp ? Should they be entering the bays soon ? I have yet had a trip were I was pulling them in hand over fist maybe this time I can't lose.
